Work With Larger Ranges
Use Feeds when a catalogue or stock file is more efficient than editing one item at a time. Each upload keeps a result history so you can see what worked, what failed, and what needs another attempt.
When to use feeds
- Use Catalog and Inventory for a small range and one-off corrections.
- Use Feeds for larger comma-separated value files exported from a product, warehouse, accounting, or marketplace system.
- Bring in your technical team for a source format that needs mapping or for an approved system-to-system project.
Upload a file
- Open Feeds.
- Select the profile that matches the file layout. This step is required.
- Choose whether the file changes the catalogue or inventory.
- Upload a comma-separated value file. Spreadsheet workbook files are not accepted.
- Review the result, including row warnings and errors.
- Correct failed rows and submit the corrected file.
Some imported file layouts are still provisional. Test a real export before depending on one for regular operations, and do not assume information is imported simply because it exists in the source file. Developers can check the exact mapping limits in the integration guide.
Operational rules
- Inventory files identify existing products by stock-keeping unit (SKU), so the product must already exist before a stock-only update can succeed.
- Catalogue files update only the product and pricing information supported by the chosen profile.
- Keep SKUs stable once sellers have mapped listings.
- A file may partly succeed. Correct failed rows rather than assuming the whole upload was rejected.
